Freezers, Fridges and Dewars are monitoring continuously by a Lab Monitoring System (LMS). The system contacts us through multiple routes, in the event that storage temperatures become unacceptable and identifies which piece(s) of equipment is malfunctioning and what its status is. The system is very secure and "tamper-proof" , with data archived to comply with CFR 11 part 21 of the FDA electronic records maintenance standards. Our system is networked through our secure local network, which is maintained and constantly monitored by the University of Alberta Medicine IT group. The system currently posts weekly status updates and we are currently working on providing a real time monitoring solution via the CBSR website.
