CBSR offers storage for biological samples on a cost recovery basis to any group looking to store in our robust environment. We offer extensive temperature ranges at one facility to accommodate your exact temperature requirements:
- Ambient (18°C to 25°C)
- Cold Room/Refrigerated (+2°C to 8°C)
- Standard Deep Freezers (-20°C)
- Ultra-Low/Ultra-Cold Freezer (-80°C to -95°C)
- Vapor Phase Nitrogen (-135°C to -196°C)
All storage equipment is monitored electronically to ensure all samples remain at the desired temperature for the duration of storage. The freezers are all connected to the university's central alarm system meaning in the event of a freezer failure the on call technician will be notified by security services and will move all samples into a backup freezer to maintain sample integrity.
All samples stored in at CBSR are logged with unique identifiers within the Biobank system. With Biobank we can provide accurate up to date inventories for all samples stored for your group. Using the inventory provided it very easy to assemble a list of samples to be pulled for further processing. Pull requests can typically be pull and shipped to a site of your choice within 48 hours of receipt of the request.
